The time has come during which the best and brightest join the National Honor Society! As a chapter, we believe that we have the potential to be the best out there. Our accomplishments last year were outstanding, and with your participation and support, the 2009-2010 Wayne Hills NHS Chapter will be EVEN better!
This packet will provide you with the guidelines of National Honor Society for this year.
Service
Credits
In order to ensure your support and membership in NHS, it is imperative that you, at the very least, meet the service credit obligations and deadlines.
First year members must obtain a total of 12 credits by the end of the year.
Second year members must obtain a total of 16 credits by the end of the year.
NHS Service Credit Officers have designated the following
two dates as deadlines by which you must submit your service credits. During each time period, first year
members are expected to submit at least 6 service credits, while second year members are expected
to submit at least 8 service credits.
These dates will NOT be changed.
Warnings will be issued upon failure to meet these deadlines.
Deadlines are as follows:
Tuesday, February 2nd
1st year members need 6 credits total
2nd year members need 8 credits total
Tuesday, June 1st
1st year members need 12 credits total
2nd year members need 16 credits total
Credit may be issued for volunteering outside of NHS. Please submit a form, available in the NHS MAILBOX (Main Office) or on the WEBSITE (www.waynehillsnhs.com).

Tutoring
Information
This year NHS will offer two types of tutoring services:
1) After school homework help in the media center
2) Subject specific tutoring
All NHS members must select a subject(s) in which they are
well educated and are willing to tutor struggling students. Please fill out the form below and place in
the NHS mailbox.
For subject specific tutoring, the Tutoring Officers will send out a general e-mail according to the subject and the first to respond will be able to tutor that individual. Contact information will be given and it is up to the two parties to set up the time and date(s). The tutor must keep the officers informed of when the tutoring is taking place.
Homework help and most subject tutoring will take place in the media center, from 2:15 to 3 PM. Sign up for homework help will occur at meetings. Each day there are two people in the media center for homework help and you must sign in to get credit. For every one session of tutoring completed, the NHS member will receive one credit.
ALL tutoring must be done through the NHS tutoring system, assigned by the Tutoring Officers.
No credit will be given to students tutoring a family member. An NHS member may not tutor a fellow NHS member for credit!

Dear NHS Member,
ItŐs that time of the year again- the WHHS NHS Annual Citrus Sale!!! This is a major fundraiser for the National Honor Society, so it is important that you sell as much fruit as you possibly can. HereŐs all of the information youŐll need:
á It is mandatory that each member sell at least one box of fruit
á Every 3 boxes sold will be worth 1 service credit
á This year we are selling 2/5 bushel of oranges for $17 and 2/5 bushel of grapefruit for $17
á All payments should be included in an envelope with the NHS memberŐs name and NHS Citrus Sale Order Form in the NHS MAILBOX in the Main Office by November 24, 2009
á Checks should be made out to Wayne Hills National Honor Society
á The bottom of this form must be completed and returned to the NHS Citrus Sale Box in the Main Office by November 24, 2009
á The fruit pick-up date is December 4, 2009
á Customers need to hold onto their ŇCitrus Sale ReceiptÓ form in order to pick up fruit
á Remind customers that NHS is selling prime citrus fruit, that it is for a good cause, and we are a non-profit organization
á There is a cap of 5 credits. If you sell more than 15 boxes we will be grateful for you contribution but sorry that we can not reward you for extra boxes.
